How Lollipop Print Turned 15 Years of Research into a Museum-Quality Collector's Book

Some print projects are defined by their technical complexity. Others, by the relationships behind them. Worker, the limited-edition photographic collector's book, is defined by both.

Produced by the Lollipop Print team in partnership with Endrime and Cory Piehowicz, Worker is the physical realisation of over fifteen years of research, collecting and passion, entrusted to a print team with the skills and dedication to do it justice.

About Endrime and the Project

Endrime is a highly respected name in the world of heritage denim and workwear. Founded by denim experts with a background working with iconic global brands such as Levi Strauss & Co., they’re dedicated to celebrating the expert craftsmanship and culture of denim through education and consultation.

Worker itself is a photographic collection conceived in collaboration with Cory Piehowicz, a renowned photographer and specialist who spent more than twenty years documenting rare historical photographs of American workwear, dating from the 1860s to the 1920s.

This incredible concept has been in development for more than fifteen years, before it was even ready for print.

Partnership Built on Trust

Some print partnerships are built on a single successful project. Others grow into long-term collaborations based on trust, quality and a shared commitment to craftsmanship.

Lollipop Print’s relationship with Endrime began back in 2019 with a highly creative leaflet designed to fold into the shape of a pair of jeans. It was a highly creative brief, and the kind of project the Lollipop team loves to get stuck into. When Endrime gets in touch, they know they can expect something imaginative, detail-driven and a little out of the ordinary.

That first project marked the start of an ongoing partnership. Over the years, Lollipop Print has worked closely with founders Mohsin Sajid and Sadia Rafique on a variety of bespoke print projects, including the Endrime Archive 1 book, custom presentation boxes and branded clothes hangers.

Having successfully delivered a range of premium projects together, Mohsin returned to Lollipop Print for Worker, trusting the team to produce another museum-quality piece worthy of the years of research, passion and craftsmanship behind it.

The Brief

With craftsmanship this specific, Editor and Art Director Sadia Rafique’s objectives for the Worker project needed to be precise.

The finished book needed to:

  • Reflect the historical significance of the images it contained
  • Feel like a timeless collector's piece worthy of museum and archival collections
  • Showcase the photography with exceptional quality
  • Be durable enough to serve as a long-term reference for historians and designers
  • Meet the premium standards expected by an international audience

This was, in every sense, a museum-quality object. Every decision made in its production needed to honour that.

Our Approach

Lollipop Print managed the project from end to end, page to page, advising on materials and finishes, overseeing print production and quality control, coordinating specialist suppliers, and managing the finishing processes required to bring the book to life.

Interior Pages

The interior pages were printed on Lollipop Print's HP Indigo 7900 Digital Press. This was chosen for its outstanding colour accuracy and ability to reproduce fine photographic detail with total precision.

On top of that, text sections were printed on Arena Uncoated 140gsm, a choice that balanced historical authenticity with image fidelity, giving the pages that natural, tactile quality that complemented the archival character of the photography.

From there, printed endpapers were produced on Arena Uncoated 200gsm, adding a further layer of considered detail throughout the interior.

Cover Construction

The canvas cover was produced in partnership with Winter & Co, specialists in premium bookbinding materials. The chosen material - Toile du Marais - is a denim-inspired canvas that draws directly from the aesthetics of the book, referencing workwear heritage through the actual texture of the Worker in your hands.

A 2.25mm rigid board formed the structural foundation of the cover. To complement the fine art photographic print, the cover photo was produced on Canson Rag Photographique 310gsm, hand-mounted to each individual copy. This was a meticulous process, but meant every book had that genuine artisanal quality.

A debossed frame surrounds the cover photograph, with the title and author name applied in foil blocking: silver for the first edition, copper for the second.

Binding and Finishing

The binding was produced in partnership with Diamond Print Services Ltd. The book was section sewn - a method chosen specifically to allow it to open completely flat, essential for photographic reference work of this nature.

Head and tail bands and a ribbon marker were incorporated throughout, each adding a quiet mark of long-lasting quality.

Presentation

To bring it all together, each finished book was placed in a custom-made, laminated presentation box, designed to protect the volume and reinforce its standing as a collector's item from the moment it’s received.

Production Challenges

A project of this nature presented a series of significant technical and logistical challenges, each requiring specialist expertise.

Selecting a paper stock that balanced historical authenticity with the demands of fine art photography required extensive testing. Reproducing over a century of archival photography with the precision demanded by a premium publication required rigorous colour management and press calibration throughout.

Given the scope of Worker, the pagination and print sequencing of a 376-page volume, featuring more than 360 photographs, required careful planning and quality control at every stage.

Sourcing a cover material that authentically evoked vintage denim was in itself a creative challenge. Hand-mounting a fine art photographic print to each individual copy added a loving, labour-intensive, handcrafted dimension to the production process.

Throughout all of this, we coordinated multiple specialist suppliers, ensuring every element of the project came together. Ultimately, we wanted to ensure the finished object reflected the care and dedication invested in it over so many years.

The Result

After being presented at a launch event in Los Angeles, hosted by Ralph Lauren, the second edition of Worker premiered at Rin Tanaka's Inspiration Tokyo - one of the world's leading premium denim and vintage trade shows - in November 2025.

The worldwide release soon followed, with distribution to collectors, designers and historians internationally.

For us, this project stands as a demonstration of what is possible when deep technical expertise, trusted partnerships, and an unwavering commitment to craft come together in service of something truly extraordinary.

“I’ve worked with the team at Lollipop Print on a number of projects over the years, and they continue to impress me with their attention to detail, technical knowledge and commitment to quality. For a project like Worker, which represents more than fifteen years of research and passion, it was essential to partner with a printer I could trust completely. The team understood the significance of the book and worked closely with us to ensure every element was produced to the highest possible standard. The finished result is exceptional, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.”
